Baiting Him by Aurora Rose Reynolds

3.0

Representation: M/M side romance, Gay supporting character

Overall: 3/5 stars

This was a super cute and sweet romance. Baiting Him is also an example of how current romance authors can create an Alpha Hero without him speaking over and/or for the heroine. Just a really great, feel-good romance with a HEA :).

Nov 3, 2020 Edit: What a difference a few months make! This used to be a 5-star read for me (back in January) and now it's barely a 3-star rating. My tastes in romance are definitely changing, seeing as I was in the mood (I am a mood reader) for a romance like this one. But, the story just missed the mark during this re-read (I skimmed and had to make myself finish it).

Safety Rating: Safe

• No cheating
• No OM/OW drama (but see note below)
Note: The woman who wants Gaston for herself is NOT an OW, she is just unhealthily obsessed with him and doesn't understand what the word 'no' means. The hero verbally shuts her down many times and makes sure she understands his boundaries. I thought this was a really great way of still having the trope of an OW wanting to steal the hero away but also showing the hero acknowledging his discomfort and setting boundaries.
• Does have the Heroine pushing the Hero away
• No separation

Possible Triggers:

• Parental abandonment
• Drugging
