The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave

3.0

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was Poignant, and heartbreaking throughout. I felt as a “thriller” perhaps it wasn’t quite a thrilling as it could have been but from the perspective of just showing growth and love it was enjoyable. The exploration of parental relationship and deep familial love is beautiful and heartbreaking. The mystery is thrilling and tragic. It feels less like an exciting thriller and more like a gut wrenching fall down a hill as more elements are revealed. The whole book progresses with a sweeping sense of dread, and unease, punctuated with brief flashbacks of deep love, connection, and belong. You know it can’t work out the way you so desperately are rooting for it to end. Overall enjoyable to read but probably not something in likely to read again.
