Lot is a collection of short stories which portray the interior lives of black and brown people living in Houston. Each story tells a unique tale of how marginalised people are threatened by homelessness, gentrification, discrimination, and even more personal struggles with identity, sexuality and sex work. I love how many perspective Washington (author) was able to tell; so eloquently that you could easily believe each story is based on a real person. The real-life implications of these stories are hard to swallow but a necessary read all the same.
