The Storyteller by Traci Chee

4.0

I honestly don't know how to rate this book. The whole series is fantastic, and Traci Chee truly is a great writer and world builder. But the ending left me absolutely heartbroken and I can't get over it. Definitely not my favorite of the three books.
SpoilerThe death of Archer just hit me like the death of Finnick in Hunger Games. Someone who was severely abused as a child, meant to suffer torture after torture and losing who they were, who had to fight every moment for a semblance of peace, forced into a war they didn't want but needed to fight for, and not getting any true happy ending. I don't like it. Plus Sefia loses yet another person she loves, after already sacrificing so much. I get the book literally begins by telling us all this will happen, but just like Romeo and Juliet it just makes me more upset.
Nope. As much as I love the writing and the story for being truly unique and beautifully done, I can't get over that. It does not however mean you should not read it. I am someone who NEEDS happy endings. And though I won't reread this series, you should definitely give it a try. I hope we see much much much more from Traci Chee in the future.
