Hands down one of my favorite books now!
I love Mickey Chambers Shakes It Up! 💗 This book did an excellent job with using several book tropes. If you are a true lover of grumpy x sunshine, you need to read this! It’s my favorite trope and Cherish wrote it so well. Mickey is our bundle of sunshine professor at a local college while Diego is a grumpy bar owner who lost his wife 5 years prior. We get such great banter between the two and see how they change each other lives. This is an age gap romance as well but not a taboo one. Mickey is in her early 30’s while Diego his early 40’s. Diego definitely gives zaddy vibes, I kept picturing him as Pedro Pascal! 🤣 Mickey is so stylish and curvy, I pictured her as a mix of Jazmine Sullivan and Amber Riley. This book is also a bit insta-love/lust. There is a definite attraction between our main characters, it starts immediately! I honestly prefer this more than slow burn so the pace was perfect to me.
This book also has Latine representation, plus size representation, a diverse cast, and hyperthyroidism rep. Mickey Chambers Shakes it Up does deal with some triggers such as anxiety, grief, loss of partner/parent (prior to the book), and fatigue.
