The Lovely and the Lost by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Trigger warnings: kidnapping, violence, child abuse, death, animal death

JLB is one of my favorite authors of all time, she does the exact kind of contemporary thrillers that I love reading. This one, however, is completely different from her other types of books. Search and rescue isn't a topic that I know a lot about so it was cool to read a book that features it. I'm a huge dog lover so having canines being a big part of the story was super cool to read. The book was really intense, it discusses a lot of traumatic situations particularly ones that the main character experienced. It takes a lot of twists and turns that I wasn't expecting until right to the very end which is just like what she did at the end of The Long Game and it's SO RUDE. Both of those books need sequels and I will shout that out til the end!
