The Remedy by Adam Haslett

The Remedy
Dark Corners #6
Horror
Adam Haslett
⭐️⭐️
This book wasn't what I was expecting. To be honest, I was expecting a plot with a lot more tension, more ulterior motives and a creepier vibe.
The pacing was ok but I did find myself skipping paragraphs here and there, especially when it was about Derrick's past/his memories.
I'm not sure I'd even class this book as a horror. The whole premise of the book is that a Dr offers an "unconventional" treatment to hand selected people and charges them an extortionate amount. The treatment involves multiple visits talking about the illness/condition, being shown a projection of your memories and at the end, being shot and thanking the Dr for it just before dying.
It's a shame because there was so much potential and opportunity to make it more sinister
