Teacher Man by Frank McCourt

5.0

McCourt is a master storyteller - and he hits home here for teachers of high schoolers (and even middle schoolers). His personal stories interweave with eureka moments from his classroom give us a flavor of teaching and how, in many ways, it is indeed timeless. Sure, there are differences if you're teaching in New York and if you're teaching in suburbia - but kids are kids. Students are students. And you got to get to know them, understand them, and in some way - find a way to like them. Show them you care, guide them to mastery of life along the way while you teach them the subjects. I'll be re-reading this one for sure.
