Where the Stars Meet the Sea
by Heidi Kimball
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Steam Level: 🔥 (kissing only)
Juliet Graham is shocked when her cousin Robert confesses his love and proposes marriage. As much as she values his friendship, she's never thought of him as more than a brother. As she thinks of how to proceed with Robert, she happens upon the Duke of Halstead- the man whose home they're currently visiting. Halstead is known for being a recluse after an accident that left his leg crippled. But as Juliet crosses paths with him throughout her stay, she comes to see that there's more to him than his disability and grumpy demeanor. Will Juliet's heart be won by her friend or by the man who has challenged her to speak her mind and stand up for herself?
This was such a quick and easy read. Halstead intrigued me and won me over from the moment he and Juliet first met. I loved the fiery tension that started between these two and how it led to Halstead slowly opening up and showing a softer side. He had several swoony lines that had me fanning myself🔥😍 Juliet flip-flopped a lot as the book went on, but I really felt for her. She was made to suffer under her aunt's awful demands, and my heart broke for her. While it was obvious who Juliet truly loved, there was plenty of drama and conflict that kept me guessing as to how things would play out. While Juliet's aunt was the true villain, Halstead's mother and grandmother also tried to stand in the way of Juliet's happiness. Thankfully, Juliet did have some allies in Lady Ellen and Hugh. I thought their side romance was a sweet addition to the story. And poor, sweet Harry! His storyline had me so nervous, but I liked how it wrapped up. This was my first book by Heidi Kimball, and I'm definitely looking forward to reading more!
