Fledgling by Octavia E. Butler

3.0

I didn’t love this as much as I’ve loved other books by Butler, but I was able to finish it. I think it’s an important look at race (not the overt, in-your-face kind, but the silent and hidden kind) and in power dynamics. But I found the writing not as impactful as I expected and the amnesia got very repetitive. Not to mention the age thing, though after reading more about why that choice was potentially made, it makes a little more sense. Not a bad book but didn’t live up to my expectations.
