A Death in Door County by Annelise Ryan

1.0

Simplified summary:
Bookstore owner and part time monster hunter gets called on a case when dead bodies turn up on Lake Michigan with suspicious injuries.

Opening lines:
He shut down the motor and let the boat drift, one hand on his pole, the other grabbing hisnearly empty beer.

Review:
Cozy small-town vibes, a budding romance, an almost-mythically heroic dog, and a weird little mystery; what's not to love? Well, a lot as it turns out. I was bored to tears. If all the insignificant details that make this book so-called cozy were removed, there would probably be about 9 pages of extremely flimsy plot left. There were so many nothing burger characters making the most god-awful and inane decisions imaginable, the mystery itself was less solved and more dropped on the readers lap, and don't even get me started on the dog who can apparently understand perfect English and is a certified lifeguard. Oooof never again.
