Beyond the Wand: The Magic & Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard by Tom Felton
3.25
generally okay with occasionally delightful anecdotes on the HP set, but the way he refers to “muggles” and “wizards” and the hogwarts houses like they’re real life instead of fiction does grate on my nerves. it’s not a “wizarding career” pls 😭
i feel that the only truly insightful and interesting chapters are about his post-HP career and life. ironic because it only took up 3 or so chapters even as the book is titled “Beyond the Wand”. i think this just is confirmation bias for my personal opinion (you’re entitled to yours) that he knows and perhaps regrets that his post-HP acting career has never truly been amazing. and honestly i think that’s fine, we can’t all have hits, but the way he harps on and on about the most minute of stuff happening on HP is telling that it might be a sore point. hence why he’s making it his entire brand - good for him if it brings in the dough, but i wish there was more introspection on this. it’s giving “those were the good old days” because you’ve got not much to shout about now.
minus points also for the jkr fanboying bc it’s really not as though he’s even read the books…
