This book should be praised for opening up the topic of what Thompson calls ‘grey areas’ of sexual assault that many of us may have experienced. The array of subjects discussed is far-reaching though at times this can be to its detriment as it begins to feel like a descriptive list, lacking some depth. Nevertheless ‘Rough’ does important work in breaking harmful perceptions or myths of rape and sexual assault which needs to happen more.
