General Comments: An enthralling idea, inspired by North African traditions that subtly, but powerfully challenges our notions of power; history; and identity. Full of resonant themes: the enslavement of race; the prejudices that arise as a result; and the dangers of court politics. The sibling rivalry and complicated nature of The Queendom of Myre, and the world of Akhimar, is intriguing and full of immense tension.

Favourite Quote: ‘…freedom that could cost your life was just enslavement under a different name.’
