💞 I found this book very similar to Every Summer After but i didn't love it that much.
💞 I knew this book was a tear-jerker but for me it was even more sad as i could relate to Macy & the loss of her mom at a young age. So many things hit me and made me sob for hours. Especially this one quote made me feel so much that I had to put the book down until the next day.
"𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦. 𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦, 𝘪𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘦’𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘯𝘰 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵. 𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘺 𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐’𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳: 𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳, 𝘰𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘮𝘦, 𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘴."
💞 The characters were written well, the emotions were conveyed perfectly, dual timeline & second chance trope is my favourite, everything was going great until the miscommunication trope.
💞 I was expecting a much bigger and surprising reason for Macy's & Elliot's fallout. Not gonna lie, I saw that WTF new year's party moment coming, but not what came after, that was truly heartbreaking.
💞 Overall it was a satisfactory read, not as satisfactory as i expected it to be yet it was great, especially because of the relatable feelings. Would recommend to everyone but if you are grieving the loss of your parent(s) and still can't deal with your emotions, I'll suggest you to stay away from this book.
