Just by Looking at Him by Ryan O'Connell
4.0
This peek into the life of Eliot is a familiar twisting rollercoaster, with themes of alcoholism and promiscuity, but with one very important underlining: Eliot has CP. I valued being able to dive into this specific experience of disability. Being queer, disabled, and struggling with addiction is a story that very much needs telling. Ableism touches everyone, and how it touches disabled bodies should be known and validated. I laughed, I felt concern, I was relieved, I was present. Ryan O'Connell wrote something simultaneously bitter and delicious. Really glad I read this.
