3.5 The first in the series of Ruth Galloway mysteries, The Crossing Places is set in a remote section of England designated as The Saltmarsh. Ruth is an archeologist specializing in bones and also teaches at the local university. Her quiet existence living in her small cottage with her cats is interrupted when she becomes involved with a murder investigation. The mystery is mixed with archeological terms and lore and the characters were likeable.
