My Roommate Is a Vampire by Jenna Levine

4.0

Cassie Greenberg has a major problem: she needs a new place to live. Yesterday. She also doesn't have any money. Her salvation: a room for rent in a nice part of town for a ridiculously low price. Miracle or too good to be true? Her roommate, Frederick, is also more than a little strange. He may be smoking hot but he's equally eccentric, oddly formal, as if he's from another century altogether...
Regardless, Cassie begins to find herself falling Frederick, until it turns out he might be hiding a bloodsucking little secret.
My Roommate Is a Vampire is a really enjoyable - in the words of the author - kooky vampire rom-com. I'd round it up to 4.5 stars, knocking off that half a star because the climax and ending felt a little rushed, but that doesn't matter too much when what comes before is so much fun. Cassie and Frederick's romance is both sweet and spicy. Frederick is adorkable, pointing out the absurdities of 21st century society/culture that I suspect a lot of us agree with even though we're products of it, and I really related to Cassie as a creative frustrated by circumstance.
