The First Ladies by Marie Benedict, Victoria Christopher Murray
4.0

Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray team up once again to tell the powerful story of friendship between Eleanor Roosevelt and Mary McLeod Bethune and their collaboration on the formation of the modern civil rights movement.

I remember learning about Eleanor Roosevelt when in high school. I was assigned a project where I had to portray her in a presentation. The only thing I remember is that I was told my great grandmother was very similar to her in personality and drive. So learning more about her life, her friendships, and her work with Mrs. Bethune was fascinating. I loved how Benedict and Murray portrayed the honest and frank conversations they had regarding tough situations, basing them off their own conversations and friendships. Truly enjoyed this book.
