The Woman in the Dunes

Read after watching.
I think this might be a case of the movie elevating the material, the slow burn horror of the sand and the nefarious nature of the film isn’t as successful for me in the original text. I think the larger philosophical questions of the purpose of life, the structure of society and the roles and freedoms of manual laborers are more the focus in the novel.
