The Dinosaur Artist by Paige Williams
3.0

This impressively sized work of non-fiction writing and research receives a middling review from me. The book needed a firmer editing hand. Ms Williams is an impressive writer, no doubt. She includes occasional glimmering, emotionally evocative prose from time to time. The few moments of ethereal writing, however, gives the reader only brief relief from Williams’ regular, relentless style of pile-driving facts onto the page. We meander through narrative side-trips filled with dizzying detail as well as relationship detours and backstory. This makes for an unnecessarily prolonged set-up of the Eric Prokapi/T.Bataar story in my opinion. By the time I reached the second half of the book I had nearly lost site of the main character of the story and was wondering why I had even bothered to read her book at all!
