Gone Tonight by Sarah Pekkanen

4.0

This started a little iffy the first 50 or 60 pages, but once I got hooked, I couldn't put it down.

It also offers my love for short alternating POV chapters.

Catherine has recently graduated with a degree in nursing and is shortly headed to Johns Hopkins to accept a full-time position. A few weeks before leaving, she notices her mom's memory is fading and showing symptoms similar to those of her patients at the center she works part-time with that specializes in those with Alzheimer's. After a visit to her doctor, it's confirmed that Ruth has an early case and her time is limited.

Catherine starts to cancel her plans for the future and puts everything into her mom's care.

Ruth, on the other hand, is having flashbacks to a different life and is chronicling them so that one day Catherine can learn the truth about their family.
