WHAT A RIDE!!! This was brilliant. Everything I was craving for this time of year! It had magic and ghosts and an incredibly visual setting, I felt like I was transported to New Orleans straight away.
I imagine this to be how I should have felt after reading Kingdom of the Wicked. And I definitely agree with the likeness to Caraval.
The little twists and turns and reveal of secrets in the 2nd half had me gasping, whilst simultaneously kicking my feet and squealing with excitement. Blackwell is an excellent character, well developed and his story is incredibly well fleshed out.
