The Good Sister by Sally Hepworth

1.0

I was expecting a thriller and instead found a predictable story with one-dimensional characters crafted with what is a completely irresponsible portrayal of mental illness and neurodivergence. One character is stereotyped as what I assume to be someone on the spectrum but has no other real personality traits and the other is portrayed as manipulative and dangerous due to narcissism or, and I quote, "even borderline." Neither are accurate depictions of real people with these disorders. These characters were cardboard cutouts with absolutely nothing else to define them as nuanced people. The plot itself was undeniably disappointing and far from clever. I'm actually mad I read this all the way through.
