The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez

2 stars rounded up to 3 stars???

I wavered between 2 and 3 stars for this book. The first half was cute. I liked the characters, they had great chemistry, and the writing was really easy to read. I actually breezed through this book in two days.

Then we got towards the end and it all fell apart for me. I absolutely hate it when a main character keeps this huge secret from other main characters and then justifies the decision to keep the secret. That’s not real life. In real life Kristen would have just told Josh. Instead there was page after page of let’s be together, no we can’t but I can tell you why. It’s just so immature and I do not understand why so many authors fall back on this.

Add that to the motorcycle accident and then Brandon’s death and I was out. It was very triggering for me and I had no idea it was coming. I may have passed on this book had I known.

But the book wasn’t done. Nope there was more. After reading about Kristen’s infertility and truly respecting that portion of the book she gets pregnant by...super sperm?!? I mean, come on. I get happy endings for romantic comedies but what about all the women who don’t get that happy ending. It just seemed disrespectful and so hurtful to women who struggle with infertility.

I’m not sure I’ll be reading the next book in this series.
