From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

4.0

This was recommended to me as better than ACOTAR, and while it didn't quite reach that ranking for me, I enjoyed the read.

It's a bit of a slow start, but worth pushing through to the second half of the books when things pick up. Poppy, the FMC, can be a bit annoying at times due to her naivety, but I think that is on point for her character based on her upbringing. I do find that theme continue into the second book, though, which is past when I think that trend should have stopped.

Hawke, the MMC, is your usual dark, handsome, mysterious man. I do find that he definitely does things for selfish reasons that are hard to justify, and has a tendency to needlessly keep information from Poppy when it would probably benefit her to be in the loop.

If you don't mind the things I mentioned above, you may enjoy this, but IMO there are better books out there.
