Another great volume of comic book classics. This is a great way to introduce teenagers and older children to literary classics.Yes, it may not be as complete as the whole book.
Somebody Recommended as a gift for someone else or for yourself (the picture is beautiful), but be careful of the sweet and sour ending. Manga Classics is a great addition to any collection. Non-manga graphic novel retellings can be very successful, but comic book classics are more consistent in artwork and quality. High expectations are no exception. I always seek out all new manga classics released in my collection to help my ailing readers! Pip is an orphaned boy who is being raised by his older sister and blacksmith husband. He helps escaped prisoners by giving them files and food. He occasionally visits an elderly woman named Miss Havisham and is in love with her adopted daughter Estella. Pip becomes an apprentice blacksmith, and four years later a mysterious benefactor (whom he believes is Miss Havisham) buys his contract and sends him off to be trained as a gentleman. He continued to visit Miss Havisham occasionally over the years. He still loves Estella. Pip eventually discovers that his benefactor is actually the prisoner he helped. The prisoner is also Estella's biological father. Pip tries to help his benefactor escape her pursuit, but fails when her enemies reveal her, her benefactor died before her execution date. Years later, Pip visits Miss Havisham's abandoned house and sees Estella again. They part as friends.
