A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan
2.0
A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan, a Kindle book I started reading on July 6nd. A book I had uploaded on a whim and on the opinion of good popular reviews & high sales (peer pressure, yar!). Plus, there's that pesky book club....
After the first few pages and incidences, this book read to me alot like a High Fidelity, troubled singleton, oopsie-daisy with me and my neuroses, modern prose. Then, after a little while longer, it turned into holy flashback, Batman. Back and forth to different spances of time with different ages of several people. On safari, deathbed visit, charts and graphs, friend to friend encounters, in the punk scene, West Coast suburbia, frivolous alternate-reality girly swill, and foreign travels.
My verdict: wayyyyyy too long and disjointed for my taste, but people like it, so it'll probably be made into a screenplay very soon.
