spulsipher 's review for:
Aurora
by Kim Stanley Robinson
This book shines in two areas: character development and it's exploration of the cost of space exploration. The characters were well fleshed out and interesting, even when the plot dragged.
The exploration of what I see as the central theme - the cost of space exploration - compelled me to look at dreams of humans leaving Earth in a new light. A book that manages to tweak my views on something I feel so strongly about warrants a high rating.
It's not perfect, though. There were points when the plot really did wander and I don't think anything would have been lost if Robinson had shortened or cut out some scenes.
