There were parts of this I really enjoyed and parts that also threw me off. I loved the relationship between the Uncle and the niblings. The explanations of grief and the reconnection with childlike joy. I appreciated not shying away from complicated family dynamics and those adult sibling relationships. I loved the personalities and complexities of each character in the book.
The new romance felt unnecessary. I understand why it was included but it could have been removed entirely or at least I would have appreciated something without a gigantic age gap. It made me feel weird, especially with the intro mentioning him being on a teen show… The romance could have easily been with someone older who was still lively and energetic.
