The Distance Between Us by Kasie West
3.0
I needed a bit of a palate cleanser after the bitter bile All the Bright Places left in my throat and, as I posted my review for that book, I checked my e-mail and was incredibly grateful to find Kasie West's name in my inbox, here to let me know it was going to be okay, that palate cleanser I so badly needed was available to rent on Overdrive.
From reading the descriptions for her books and then reading By Your Side last week, I've come to believe Kasie West is the perfect author to turn to for a quick and cute little book. It's kind of the book equivalent of a chick flick romcom: not super deep, not very long, and perfect for when you just want to enjoy a little fluff. Plus, almost all West's books are available on Overdrive or through the library as discs, so they're free for me.
I definitely liked By Your Side a lot more than this, but this was cute enough. I liked the relationship Caymen had with her mother and liked that I could feel how strained it had become even though I didn't actually know what it used to be like. I also thought Xander and Caymen were really cute and thought their romance was sweet.
This was just good for wasting away my shift with, just fun enough to hold my attention and get me to care enough to finish, but not much else more than that, though still fun.
