“That business on Cato Neimoidia doesn’t count.”

We finally have a story and know exactly what Obi-Wan was talking about. This book was absolutely fantastic and I enjoyed every moment of it! Mike Chen put a wonderful story together centered around our space duo of Obi-Wan and Anakin. Chen wrote Obi-Wan and Anakin perfectly! I could feel both portrayals live action and animated popping off the pages. There was a perfect blend and balance between the two.

Anakin’s relationship with Mill is one of my favorite parts of the book. It showed how well Anakin can work with younglings and Padawan, as well as, truly what a wonderful Master he would’ve become one day. It also was great seeing him pre-Ahsoka as his Padawan, but post-AOTC. It’s funny seeing how against it he was, but then came to appreciate and love that he was given a Padawan. I like that Anakin didn’t try to shy Mill away from what she felt is best for herself. He encouraged her to follow her feelings and take that path.

I highly enjoyed the moments we got with Anakin and Padmé. Watching their early days as newlyweds trying to settle back as if everything is normal.
Their little date in the lower level of Coruscant was adorable. I could not stop smiling reading all of that. It’s so wonderful seeing them in the setting of just husband and wife. Seeing them just enjoy themselves as a young new married couple. I also loved the touch that Obi-Wan had high suspicions about them, but just let it go cause he could see how happy it made them.

Our main supporting characters were nice to read about. I liked how Ruug and Ketar mirrored Obi-Wan and Anakin in ways. It was interesting to see how this relationship helped Obi-Wan see a new light of the Nemodians. He was able to understand who they truly were and not just view them as who Nute Gunray is.
Ventress was a perfect edition to the story and I loved seeing more of her!

I was obsessed with the use of the sun dragon metaphor that we see in the ROTS novelization. It’s so great seeing that theme popping up in a new story. It makes the meaning of it in ROTS even more powerful with this new perspective.

This is one of my favorite Star Wars books I have read and I will never get tired of it!
