This book is definitely not for everyone. It was a very exhausting read for me. Even though I don't have too much of a problem with the subject of cheating, it is the dominant theme and not something you can just overlook. I completely sympathize with the characters and why it all happens the way it does. However, the people involved are rightly hurt and that gives the whole book a very negative context. Which is not to say that the book was negative for me. Because quite honestly this bitch of a wife didn't deserve it any other way. God how I hated this woman ... And the fear that a huge disaster was about to happen was constantly there. My little heart hurt all the time and I had to read so fast to make sure that everything would be okay, that I could not really enjoy the book. So for me, a re-read is imminent, to let the whole thing calmly take effect again on me.
Because it is despite the severity of the plot a masterpiece.
Emery is an incredible character, the things he has had to suffer and how despite everything he doesn't give up and fights and how he finds the perfect person in Abe who finally gives him safety.
