Daughter of the Pirate King
by Tricia Levenseller
Ok been a while since I updated but here I am catching up. I enjoyed Fourth Wing so much that if I didn't lunge myself head first into my next book, I would've just sat there soaking in all that dragon glory. So that's where this one comes in.
I had Daughter of the Pirate King on my list forever. I'm all about pirates and the premise always got me like I knew deep down I was going to like it. Unfortunately, I don't know myself as well as I thought.
I can't believe how disappointed I was! No, it wasn't horrible. I give it that much. I enjoyed enough to sit there and get through it. I liked the attitude of Alosa and her sarcastic tones. But I don't know. There was just so much missing that it felt like it wasn't finished. I don't like to get into spoilers in reviews, so I'll leave it at that. It felt as if it was an empty world and all the characters were fairly two dimensional. And then the romantic part! I got even madder when I realized how much of a romance this was rather than a pirate story which I thought it was.
There was a ton that could've made the book as a whole better, but it didn't grab me nearly as much as it should have. So bummed! I was really wanting to love it, but it's just plain ol' ok.
