Spider-Woman: Shifting Gears, Volume 2: Civil War II by

4.0

Hopeless is still on top of his game in Volume 2 and really there are few characters in the Marvel Universe impacted in more ways by Civil War II than Spider Woman so he has a lot to work with here. As a result you feel the impact that events away from this series have in a way that's rare for cross over events. Having given birth at the end of the last volume the title character is still trying to balance life and hero work and Hopeless does a good job blurring those lines while paying attention to both. Lastly, Rodriguez art deserves special attention. As he is drawing a new mother hr seemed at least aware of what that might do to Spider Woman's body and her character design in this collection reflects that.
