The Serial Killer's Wife
by Alice Hunter
does it have an interesting twist at the end? yes. is it enough? no.
the story is told in different POVs: Beth (95%), Tom (4%), Tom’s victims (1%).
I found it hard to connect with Beth and halfway through the book, all the sympathy I had for her, just vanished. her rambling and her constant worry, just frustrated me. her obsession with her daughter’s perfect future, though relevant to the story later on, just annoyed me. so many things about her mundane day-to-day should’ve been left out.
Tom’s POV were a little more interesting, but as a serial killer, it felt lackluster. his POV and his victims’ felt like they written just to disturb the reader (trigger warning: SA) but it didn’t dig deeper in his psyche.
the final twist lacked credibility and I couldn’t really wrap my head around it. I felt disappointed.
