The Way of Kings

Phenomenal world building and character building; Sanderson is one of the best—if not the best—working today when it comes to those elements. At a 1,000 pages, this is an endeavor, but it’s never an arduous one. The pages fly by and I frequently found myself thinking about this story when I wasn’t reading it, eager to get back and find out what happened next. I already own the next three in the series and am looking forward to continuing, but I’m definitely going to read a few shorter books before diving into Words of Radiance.
