A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir
4.0
I am so happy that I finally finished the An Ember in the Ashes series. This has been my one must finish series for the year 2025. I started it back in 2016 when book 1 first came out and absolutely fell head over heels for it. Book 2, however, the first time I read it, I just liked it, but it was nothing special. My reread of it, however, loved it. Basically, it has been a long time since I started the series vs when the last 2 books came out. Too much time has passed that I knew deep down that I had to reread the first two books in order to continue on with the series. The other thing keeping me from finishing the series was the covers. I just thought the covers with the people on the front were ugly, so I was not keen on reading the series right away, and also I started college and had no time to read. Many factors were stopping me ultimately from finishing it, but it is done, and it is safe to say I had a good time with it.
An Ember in the Ashes is still probably my favorite. Then A Torch Against the Night, A Sky Beyond the Storm, and finally, A Reaper at the Gates. All books were 4 stars or up. This is a solid YA series, but I would classify this as older YA. The books can be a bit gruesome and deal with some more mature themes than a younger YA story. As someone who is an adult, I think that this story can very easily be enjoyed by an adult audience.
From where the story first started to where it ended, I can say it was quite the journey. There were so many twists and turns, some were predictable, others shocked me, but overall I would classify it as one of my favorite YA fantasy series and I am looking forward to reading more Sabaa Tahir novels in the future!
