Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan

4.0

This was my first book by the author, and I now know why people love her books.  This is so well-written, and the characters are likeable and multilayered.  The book is dual POV, and I enjoyed reading about their lives, as well as their relationships with the friends and children, as opposed to this being hyperfocused on the MCs.  I like reading fluffy romance novels, but the depth of the characters' feelings as well as their struggles to grow as humans, and grow back together, makes this such a good love story.  The author works magic with the second-chance romance trope because her characters' relationship has so much depth because of their history, and because their struggles are realistically and believably heart-tugging, rather than some sort of obstacle being thrown in 80% into the novel just to provide plot tension.  Now I know what the author meant when she said that she guarantees a HEA but makes her characters work for it.
