Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap...and Others Don't by Jim Collins
3.0
A smoothly written overview of the qualities that bring solid companies through deliberate action into the next level. I enjoyed the book, and while I respect that these concepts apply to the 11 companies in a moment in their development, two of the companies (Circuit City and Fannie Mae- perhaps featured in his later book How the Mighty Fall) did not find enduring greatness and went under.
Reading this book after Lean In, I wonder how the presence of women at the top levels of management may have altered the trajectory of some of these corporations. I hope that the diversity of perspectives at the top will one day be included as a factor bringing companies into Collins's vision of greatness.
