The first quarter of the book felt slow, but it really started to pick up in the middle, and the ending was… a mixed bag? Mostly good!
The whole book was basically a mother vs daughter scenario, and I really liked how the author wrote Hanna’s dialogue a majority of the time. You could also really grasp Suzette’s heart-wrenching feelings, being at war with the kid who’s supposed to love her. It really takes into perspective how parents strive to be perfect and constantly compare themselves to other “more perfect” caregivers, when everyone is really just figuring it out. The flow of the plot also felt very natural based on the chain of events happening!
