I Will Forget This Feeling Someday by Yoru Sumino

3.0

When I read this book originally, I had high hopes that it would be a great read with a good message and overall enticing story. However, after completing this book I can't help but feel disappointed with the author's work. Yoru Sumino has written fantastic books in the past, including "I had that same dream again" and "I want to eat your pancreas".

What I found the most disappointing overall was the fact that the author stopped the story halfway through the book and did a Time skip which had almost nothing to do with the original story. It's only towards the last 20 to 30 pages the story attempts to make a satisfying conclusion which it fails to do so. I honestly cannot recommend this book, and hope that at some point the author releases better work. I appreciate that she spent so much time working on this book but it falls short of my expectations and almost seems like a waste of a read.

The concept was great with the original story path (first half). After that however, it was almost painful to continue reading. It would be nice if the author made a conclusion that explained all the unanswered questions I have but I don't think that will be done. The only other issue that I found with the book was how unlikable the main character (Kaya) was and how the author dragged on continuously about his pessimistic mindset, for what seemed like the entire book. Personally I was tired of the main character in his attitude towards life. After writing this, I have decided this book should only receive 2.5 to 3 stars.
