I read this out loud to my son each night before bed. It started out pretty slow, and we are used to reading Fantasy, so we (I?) might have been slightly bored at the beginning. It picked up toward the middle and got downright exiting toward the end, so we can see how this book and the whole series are very popular, even if they are from another era. My son wants to get and read the 2nd in the series, right away.
