Despite the somber setting and harrowing events, this was a breath of fresh air and a worthwhile ending to such a darling series.  I'll admit I almost gave up on finishing it after not getting through the last two but I'm glad I gave this one a chance. Anne's youngest child, Rilla Blythe, is now the heroine we follow and she is an absolute delight. Her growth from a vain and lovestruck girl to a resolute young woman was a great journey to witness.
