Essays In Love by Alain de Botton

emotional reflective

5.0

i don't think any review could ever do this book justice . it was the most personal thing i ever read. even though i read the story of two strangers who fell in and out of love, i felt like i was seeing my own thoughts and feelings put on paper. no words could describe better how it feels to love someone. alain de botton writes with emotion and passion and has the capacity to turn feelings into stories, which is not something that i've seen many people do. overall this book is an incredible portrait of the internal process of loving and losing someone. 5/5 one of the more honest and real books i've ever read.  "Lovers cannot remain philosophers for long, they should give way to the religious impulse, which is to believe and have faith, as opposed to the philosophic impulse, which is to doubt & inquire. They should prefer the risk of being wrong and in love to being in doubt and without love."
