This is one of the rare Animorphs books that crosses from MG into YA, and hints at a mature theme.
Because of that, it's close to being my favourite of the series thus far. It's a multi-book arc so be sure to read #20 first.
As I work through each of the Animorphs books, I've thought again and again that the lore would be responsive to a more adult take. This is unreasonable to expect since it's a children's book series, but there are moments during some of the books where the author takes a chance and risks going a little deeper than what you usually expect from a MG book.
The Solution does this more in-depth than previous books, and I appreciated it greatly as an adult reader. It is still appropriate for a younger audience but it has enough for a more mature reader to enjoy.
