This is one of my favorite books and is a good example of why I love Japanese contemporary literature! Each chapter tells a different person's story and how their lives were affected by a librarian who seems to know what they truly need behind their requests. I love the depiction of needle felting, which I don't see often in media, and I love that characters from previous chapters make appearances and help out each other. One of my favorite things about this book is that the conclusions for each chapter is very realistic; no it's not realistic always to just quit your job if you don't like it, but there are things you can do to make your life happier in the meantime. I love the themes of living with intention and care. This was a really sweet book, I sincerely hope there will be a sequel! Also, I thought the readers for the audiobook were excellent, I loved that they were actually Japanese (or at least most of them, sometimes it's hard to tell just by names because some of us are mixed) because I do not want to listen to Japanese translated audiobooks read by non-Japanese speakers ever again.
