This novel weaves together several investigations at once. I don't recommend this book to those who appreciate neat and tidy endings. The idea here is rather to intertwine the plots through the detective’s encounters. Not all the investigations are strictly resolved, and not all the culprits are punished. Nor do I recommend it to fans of procedural police novels, as the most interesting part here is getting to know the more or less strange characters, most of whom have been damaged by life. But if you like slices of life, a hero who is gruff but kind-hearted, sad stories of loss and redemption, strange coincidences, beautiful writing, and a mixture of absurdity, pain and humor, I can only recommend it to you.
