Dark Flame by Alyson Noël

Although this was probably my least favorite of the series so far, it was still very good. The writing was a bit repetitive occasionally (the first time I've noticed that in this series), and I think that dampened my enthusiasm. I also never liked Haven much, and I like her even less now. That would be fine if she was meant to be a bad guy, but Ever's friendship with her just doesn't make sense. Meanwhile, I miss Miles (as he jets off to Florence for acting camp).

It amazed me that the quest for Ever and Damen to "shag their hearts out" (as Roman put it) could continue this long. And suddenly the love triangle is a love... pyramid? (Three guys, one Ever. Improbable but strangely believable, and definitely shocking!) The increasing amount of New Age-y, hippie, very California elements is odd to me, but I think it works well for the story. This installment also had a much more pronounced "message" about positive thinking/energy, appealing to the good part of bad people, etc. Then we finish with another surprising (and rather abrupt!) ending, so I can't wait to see where book 5 goes!
