The Little Snake by A.L. Kennedy

4.0

Weirdly I think The NY Times review that led me to this book got it fairly wrong, eg conceiving of the snake as representing evil where I would have thought it represented death (except for the fact that it is a snake I don’t see roughly anything that suggests the snake represents evil).

I thought the beginning was entrancing in its description of the protagonist Mary and of her surroundings. By the end I think at times “entrancing” has become “cutesy” a little too often, or maybe partly it was a dosage thing. But still good
